It Begins With A Seed

Logic never produced a miracle.  You don’t want to think logically, do not be conformed to the ways of the world. God can do ANYTHING and plans on giving you more than you ask for.

Several years ago, I attended an event at my church. We were each encouraged to come forward for prayer in between services. It was announced: “Even if you don’t know what to ask for specifically, please come up anyway – and ask for a word of blessing or a prophetic word over your life.” I had so much going on in that season and naturally, from my perspective, I believed that each circumstance was a great tragedy. I stayed seated for a while trying to narrow down what I thought needed the most prayer… shuffling through the many things that were weighing on my mind and my heart… keeping the lump that was forming in the back of my throat at bay. I noticed the line was getting shorter so I left my seat and headed to the front. There were about ten prayer teams assembled in groups of two. Two lines were formed and as prayer teams came available the first person in line went forward. I was desperately seeking a word from God over my life, just one word of encouragement. With clammy hands and that lump in my throat, I reached the front of the line and it was my turn. I was situated in front of two women who I recognized from seeing at church, but did not know well… One of them asked what I needed prayer for. I’m sure I had a look of desperation in my eyes that begged for hours of prayer on a myriad of topics, but I could only choke out a few words… “please pray a blessing over me”. They each held one of my hands, one put a hand on my forehead and the other, a hand on my shoulder. They began to pray in the spirit over me simultaneously and in shifts. About five or six minutes into the prayer, tears silently streaming down my face, one of them yelled out “Apple Cart!” louder than I was expecting. At that point, all of our eyes opened up, looking at each other, a little wide eyed. They brought the prayer to a close and I stood there, feeling free, a weight lifted after hearing them speak life over me, speaking directly to insecurities neither of them knew anything about. I was also thinking – apple cart? What on earth does that mean??

Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed. -Robert H. Schuller

Yes, years would go by before I began to even remotely understand why someone might yell out “apple cart” at me in prayer – a testament to just how much fruit would be produced in my life. Fruit that is heavy with the love of God. Fruit that God has equipped me to share. I’m incredibly grateful for the healing I’ve experienced and the great joy I’ve come to know that only comes with letting go of the planning of every detail of my life and the way “I” think it should go.

Since the “letting go” began – the topography of my life has changed drastically and it is my prayer that sharing my testimony will be an encouragement to you.

Romans 12:2 – Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. (TPT)
